Benefits Search

The national Benefits Search provides Authorities with the facility to trace individuals by checking for open, closed, suspended and expired housing benefit and council tax benefit claims across a subset of all subscribing Authorities’ benefits systems.

The Benefits search is made by using the Surname, National Insurance number and/or Date of Birth of the individual.

The information provided by the search includes:

  • Details of the Authority(s) where the individual has been found
  • Reference Number
  • Full Name
  • Address
  • NINO
  • Date Of Birth
  • DWP Benefit Type
  • Start Date
  • End Date
  • Status

From the results page you can also:

  • Print Record(s)
  • Export Record(s) to PDF
  • Email the Council where the record is located
  • Check with Council Tax Database
  • Check with Telephone Directory Database
  • Check with PAF Database
  • Run Credit Checks
  • Set a 'NINO alert' to monitor the National Insurance Number
